Hey y’all! You might be wondering who I am and what I’m doing here. Which is fair, it’s a question I ask myself a lot these days. It's something that's in flux at the moment.
One thing that I do know is that I come from generations of photographers: my Grandfather, my Uncle, my Mom, my Cousin, and finally me! The running joke in the family was that it was inevitable to catch the photography bug. As a true introvert, I find both peace and regeneration by being out on my own. Thanks to my Dad’s love of the outdoors, I knew since I was a little girl that time spent outside made me happier than anything else.
I started to gain interest in photography as a teen. Heading outside on my own (with my Mom's old film camera) during our family beach vacations gave me the chance to reconnect with myself—away from our big, loud, and only slightly competitive family (and by slightly, I mean of course insanely). Finding a fallen sprig of sea oats, dew on the grass, and sunsets over the ocean brought me the much-needed peace that all introverts crave. Photography became a time to recharge and bask in the beauty and silence of nature.
My obsessive tendencies and attention to detail proved to be quite helpful in photography. I find myself immediately noticing small details: like a tree with one little leaf that’s a different color, or a flower petal that’s just slightly torn. Nature seems to be a great reminder that you don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.
I was extremely fortunate to have a wonderful photography teacher at North Georgia College, Paul Dunlap. His encouragement, honest critique, calm demeanor, and talent inspired me to push myself and become a better artist. I fell even more in love with photography during our film photography class. It’s like magic watching images slowly develop in the tray of water and onto the paper. It also taught me to be more selective with my compositions and to pay close attention to the exposure settings. Burning and dodging images to adjust the lighting on the paper to match what I saw with my eyes is so much more hands-on than editing on a computer.

As the years went by, I brought my camera with me almost everywhere. I now have a collection of decades worth of photos that transport me all around the world, to each moment in time. For me, photography allows me to slow down, breathe, soak in the sunlight, and notice all of my senses. Damp grass below my feet, a soft breeze, birds singing, colorful flowers, and the warmth from the sunshine. I aim to transport you to these peaceful moments so you can begin to feel the emotions that I felt in that moment.
Currently, the mountains of Colorado are my home. I spend my time hiking, camping, reading, and taking photos to feed my soul. I’ve learned that life can be challenging, heartbreaking, and even lonely sometimes. That’s why continuing to honor my heart and soul with creativity is so important. This is simply what I love, and I hope by sharing it with the world that it brings you moments of happiness too.
